Question about Pets:Hand feeding?

While i see nothing wrong with babing a fully weaned bird, feeding hand feeding formula is a NO NO for a few different reasons. Especially if you are feeding other birds with the exact formula.

1) The temp of the formula
2) Crop statis (look it up for those who don't know)
3) Aspiration
4) Consequences if something happens to you ie (death, hospital, vacation)

Here are a few helpful hints to get started. Whether you use a syringe or spoon, try using fruit flavored oatmeal instead of hand feeding formula. It can be placed in a bowl or can be spoon fed. You are also taking the time to bond with your bird but not doing harm to your bird. It also comes in many fruit flavors, plus it's healthier for your bird.

Also look at the fact, that if anything happens to you as an owner this trick can be passed onto another owner, boarder OR someone who watches your bird if you go on vacation. It also soothes your bird before bedtime.

The oatmeal comes in Blueberry, strawberry, peaches, and apple. Which gives your bird a variety of flavors. Warms the tummy before bed time too.

Another reminder that exact formula is known for bacteria in their formula. I've done research personally on all the hand feeding formula's. Been in their plant, and it's the extruded process of the corn meal. Hot, cold, hot cold and the process of the manufacturing and then the shipping. Many chicks have problems with the bacteria count in the crop.

Although i'm not a big fan of Zupreem pellets because of the sugar content (60%) i happen to love the hand feeding formula.
