Question about Pets:Why do birds cross the road?

Running requires less energy than flying..also birds such as quail usually only fly short distances at a time. It would take way too much energy to take off...land..take off...land again...etc....when they can just forage while they walk or run. They don't realize the car could kill them, they are just trying to conserve energy.

Ive had my Parakeets for several weeks now, why are they still skittish when I open the cage door? (previous)
What is my bird doing:S? (next)
