| Question about Pets:Can my cockatiel be tamed again? |
usually 99% of the time once the bird has produced, it becomes VERY territorrial and thus is no longer a pet but a breeder bird and nothing more.
It is possible to re-tame her but it's going to take alot of time and effort. If your bird already knows the step-up command, see if you can get her to step-up onto a hand perch, slowly bring her out of the cage and if she flys away let her go. have a treat with you and talk softly to her and she may come to you.
you may have to do this simple step for weeks before you can even get her to stay on the hand perch for more than a few seconds.
once you can get her to step-up on your finger just let her sit there and talk to her before you go to try to pet her. if she can withstand sitting there and maybe even chirping for a few minutes then move on to trying to pet her.
Gradule steps, patients and love can make anything happen :)
