| Question about Pets:Can I bring a Toco Toucan to the states? |
Yes you can! after it goes through states quarantine, I have never done it, but I heard that's how you do it, and I don't know how to even do it, but it can be done, but could be a little costly, but probably alot cheapier then buying one in the state you live in now, The last time I seen one for sale at the pet shop in my state it was 3,500 dolars, and that was just the bird without a cage! I own a yellow crested cockatoo, and there over 2,000 dollars now to buy from petshop! birds are gettting very expensive to buy in the united states now, well so are puppies!
Maybe you should go ahead and post another question again about finding out how to go about getting a bird put through quarantine from another country! that way you'll know what you will have to do! I have never done it, but I know you can bring a bird back to the United States as long as you do it the right legal way! Going there and sneaking one back and if you get caught, you will spend many years in prison!
and even if you never got caught, the bird may have a very deadly disease and you could die from it and anyone else that comes in contact with it! So It's not worth the risk to sneak the bird back here to the united states!
They just have to test the bird for many diseases, and some very deadly ones! If the bird checks out ok, you will be granted a permit or license to do so! I think the quarantine period is 90 days!
I own Parrots, Cockatoo's and Cocktiels! I have owned pet birds for over 30 years! I also own 3 Africian thorn tortoises, they are 7.6.5 years olds and the oldest 2 weigh 65 LBs a piece! 125 when adults!
Any budgie owners had any luck with this? (previous)
