| Question about Pets:Introducing doves to each other? |
Despite the dove's reputation of being peaceful, they are known to be brutal to each other. However, they tend to get along a lot better if they are different genders like yours, rather than the same gender. And also as long as you do not put a third dove with them.
It's usually reccomended that you quarantine the new dove first. Put her in a cage in a different room to the other dove for a period of time (some say a week, some say a month) to monitor her and make sure she won't pass on a disease.
Currently, Angel sees his cage as his territory, and he may or may not welcome another dove. To increase your chances, first remove him from the cage. Rearrange all the perches, etc so that it looks like a new cage and new territory.
Then put them both in at the same time.
If they do fight, take the one who is doing all the fighting out and put it in a separate cage. But still have them in cages next to each other so they can get use to each other. Try putting it back in; in a week. If they fight again, put it back in the other cage and keep trying every few days. This works for my birds.
Keep a close eye on them. Good luck!
