when you say sparrow are you meaning wild or tame?
i have a freind who breeds british birds legally so i asked his advice on this.
he said that in the wild many are prone to attacks from sparrow hawks and other predatures so often the live only a coupe of years if they are lucky.
however he showed me a bird that he has breeding in his aviary which is tame and healthy and the ring says it was born in 1999, she is sitting on eggs at the minute so i guess it depends on many factors
