| Question about Pets:Is it impossible to own a pet chicken in a townhouse? |
The townhouse association may have rules about pets. If they don't, the town you live in will; generally *farm* animals are banned within city limits. That includes cows, sheep, goats, chickens, geese, and usually horses. Unless you can get a variance, you can get a fine for keeping farm animals.
All that said, many people keep really small farm animals indoors, like pot bellied pigs.
Are you sure your leghorn is a female? If it's a male, it will start to crow in a month or two, and will be obnoxious as roosters crow at all hours of the day or night.
Your biggest problem (outside of neighbors complaining) is to convince your family you're a responsible pet owner, it won't be smelly and the chicken won't poop all over your house.
