Question about Pets:Cockatiel behaviour question?

Something that people don't know about birds is the fact that they will masturbate using a variety of things, from favorite toys to your hand or finger, and this is common, natural behavior. It isn't something to get upset about, simply move your hand somewhere else, slowly and gently. Don't do anything to give her the impression that she did something wrong. It isn't unusual to catch a male bird lowering himself on a perch or toy and start to grind a little. Some people think they are dancing, but in fact, they are masturbating. It is possible that you might have stroked her back, which is a sexual zone for birds. Stick to petting her head and neck, and this should happen less often. If it happens again, move you hand away as I described earlier. Just remember, this is not uncommon, and is more common than most people realize.
