| Question about Pets:Is this good for my baby budgies? |
IMHO, this diet is fine to feed as PART of a diet, but as a sole diet, I believe it to be a little carbohydrate heavy. I would recommend introducing your little one to veggies asap, especially leafy greens such as parsley and collard greens, etc. as well as the occasional vitamin rich fruit, such as strawberries or peaches.
When they are adults, based on current knowledge and speculations, I typically recommend a diet of 1/3 good quality budgie pellets (Zupreme, Harrisons, etc.), 1/3 seed mix, and 1/3 fresh vegetables with some fruit and grain foods as a treat. This is the EATEN diet, not the OFFERED diet. If you offer your bird a big bowl of 1/3 seed, 1/3 pellets, and 1/3 veggies, it will most likely eat ALL the seeds and leave the other two things behind, so restrict your seed intake somewhat.
I am an avian vet.
