| Question about Pets:Transporting a budgerigar by car? |
My birds travel by car all the time and they take vacations with us. They have a travel cage, about the size of a Budgie cage (I have a White Eyed Conure and a Green Cheek Conure, both bigger than a Budgie), that sits in the back seat buckled in. You may want to buy an actual travel cage that restricts his ability to fly but I've never had a problem.
Put him in the back seat so that the air conditioning isn't blowing directly on him.
Depending where you live, if it is hot, please don't cover the cage while in the car. The sun beating down on the cage cover could heat the inside of the cage beyond what would be healthy for your bird. My Green Cheek tends to get car sick so first thing in the morning of the day we travel, I put a little bit of fresh ginger in his water to settle his stomach.
The link below has some helpful tips about traveling with a bird. (go half-way down the page for car travel)
Good luck!
