Question about Pets:3 cockatiels too many?

Introducing a third cockatiel is always a tricky decision and unless you know your cockatiels well, there isn't much way of knowing how it will turn out.
If any of the cockatiels you have now have an aggressive personality, you might want to reconsider.

I keep 3 cockatiels in a 3m by 1.8m aviary, two males and one female, and don't have any problems.
After quarenteening the female, I placed her in a cage within the aviary for a day or two. Then I let her into the aviary, one of my males was a little uneasy and protective at first but he got use to her after a few days, while the other male wanted to be friends with her right away.
They all seem to get alone, all three preen each other.

If your cockatiels have bred then they must be bonded, even if they don't always show it. Whether they will breed again or not, they might. They might not. Cockatiels often breed despite there being other cockatiels in the aviary.

However because your two cockateils are already bonded, it is possible for the new female to feel lonely and left out.

What can i do about a problem where i have this bird who keeps on coming in out house.? (previous)
How can I find out if a duck is native or introducted and if its feral or wild? (next)
