Question about Pets:Is placing my budgie above eye level a bad thing, or is that just big parrots?

the height of the cage shouldn't matter. although with larger birds that can become a problem but with a budgie I don't think that would happen. A nice sized cage for them to do some wing flapping, plenty of fesh food, water, fruits and vegi's on a daily basis.

Also you can give your budgie a bathe every couple of days, it's great for their preening, and to get off any oils they may pick up from us handling them or from toys etc.

There's something called "The Honeymoon Period" for birds. It's a term we use when new birds go home with their new owners. It can be anywhere form a couple of weeks to a couple of months. The "normal" honeymoon period is usually 30 days. What this means is your bird just needs time to get used to it's new home, new sounds, schedule, surroundings, etc.

Don't froce him to come out of his cage, open the door and let him come out on his own. Make sure you have at least two different sized perches on two different levels of the cage, food on one side, water on the other.
Cover the cage at night. Birds usually need 10 hrs of "down time" Use a light sheet or towl. some birds are scared of the dark and you may here him "thrashing" about the cage at night, put a night light near the cage.

Don't use any Kaytee Products as they are full of Junk food for birds and will shorten their life span. Feed pellets, fresh greens such as spinach, romain lettuce broccoli etc. The greener the better.

No Avocado, Chocolate, booze, Teflon pans, any kind of smoke including candles can and will kill your bird.
