| Question about Pets:NEEDED ON BABY COCKATIELs? |
If the parents are now feeding the chick with the food that they eat all should be OK.
The parents are not eating the boiled rice because they do not recognise it as their usual food.
If the chicks are growing and developing feathers then leave the parents to it.
They have done well enough to become fit enough to breed on the diet they were getting so the chicks should grow on that food.
Boiled rice is not a very good food for cockatiels as it is purely starch with no protien or minerals. They also need the oils that are contained in the seed mixture to keep them healthy. Instead of the rice try adding a little finely chopped or mashed hard boiled egg to their food but don't leave it in too long, change it every day. I use EMP mixture for my brooding birds to help supplement their diet.
