| Question about Pets:Why does my hamster fill his wheel with sawdust? |
Hamsters make absolutly brillant pets, and this is one of the reasons why. they do crazy stuff that makes no sense to us, and keeps a little smile on us all day!
My hamster is 14 months old and he has never in those 14 months used his exercise wheel, but he will kick his carefresh bedding around, move his bed randomly to different levels ( its a 3 storey cage) and go crazy if he hears the rustling sound of his hamster food bag!
There is no explenation for why your hamster does this, except that hamsters are natural nest builders, they adore their home and constantly move things around to how they like it.
The important thing is to respect that in his mind he is doing it for some specific reason and you need to let him get on with it. Sit back and enjoy all the funny things he does, its what makes him special. he sounds very much like my gorgeous ginger furball!!
