| Question about Pets:Why is my hamster not eating? |
Rodents live to eat. It's their favorite past-time because they love their food so much. If your hamster has refused food for 5 days, it is very sick by now.
Are you positive he doesn't have a stash somewhere? Has he escaped his cage from time to time and maybe he has a stash somewhere in the house?
Do you keep your/their home very warm? Hamsters go into a stupor-like state when they get too hot. When the temperature meets their requirements they will wake up.
Do you keep your/their home very cool? Hamsters go into a hibernation-like state when they get too cold. When the temperature meets their requirements they will wake up.

"The optimal temperature for hamsters is 65 - 70° F. If the temperature drops below 55° F, hamsters may gather food and enter a deep sleep. They are permissive hibernators; they do not lay down fat prior to sleeping and are readily roused if the temperature increases to their preferred range".
If your hamster is sick you would be seeing other signs of illness by now
