Question about Pets:Why is my hamster going to the toilet in his house?

My Hamster more or less does the same thing. He has a massive 3 storey cage and he insists on weeing just outside his little bedroom. He has done since the day I got him 1!!

Part of it is probably laziness, but hamsters like to mark their territory and what better way than to wee there? Hamsters adore their sleeping quarters and mine seldom likes to leave it, even at night time when he should be racing around full of energy! So this is the spot they will like to mark as their own the most.

Alot of people have advised you to use a hamster litter tray, but this really did not work for me, he thought it was a toy and tried to eat the litter! You can only do what you are already doing, and thats giving it a bit of a clean each day. All hamsters have strange habits, and some we just have to accept.
