| Question about Pets:How do I teach my parakeet to not fly off my finger? |
Agreed- clip the wings, have someone show you how, then you can keep up with it. It will help it bond closer to you, and really IS safer in almost every other way also. the one concern is that if you have a dog too, you will need to 100% supervise the little guys time out of the cage and be sure the dog is not able to be in the same room at the same time in any way. Ive heard people say their dog and bird get along just great... it sits onthe dogs head, etc... but then later on hear of a disaster. Its just inbred instincts that dogs and cats cant help. just be sure the dog is outside or something before taking your bird out. youll soon find it will be easier to handle, as it has to depend on you more. soon you can teach it step ups, and the more you handle it like that the closer it will want to be with you. as long as it can fly, it wont stay on your finger, at least not for long. plus all your picture frames wont be chewed up. lol
