| Question about Pets:Why is it that parrots dont have emotions? |
They certainly do have emotions and love to show how they feel. :)
If a parrot's eye is 'pinning' (the pupil is 'flashing' or rapidly shrinking and growing), that usually means it is excited. Their eyes will pin when they are eating something they like, when they are playing, when you are saying something interesting, etc.
Happy parrots often do a cute thing I like to call the 'parrot smile'. If it is amused or interested, it will often open it's beak slightly and due to the beak shape, look like it is smiling. So cute.
The way the bird is vocalising also indicates its mood.
Also the way the feathers are placed on their head also indicated how they are feeling.
I can tell if my birds are excited, angry, wary, etc, just by the face expression alone. Yes, they do have face expressions but it sometimes takes a bit of practice and getting to know your birds before you can see them clearly. :)
