| Question about Pets:My bird is still 2 blocks away? |
I'm gathering from this question that you have lost your bird and you can either hear it and/or see it 2 blocks from where you are. Am I correct? I am sorry to hear that. I have an Orange Winged Amazon parrot I just adore and treasure, so I feel your pain.
I am guessing your breed of bird might be in the parrot family. I am also guessing that you didn't clip its' wings, which is so vitally important in mishaps such as this.
The only thing you can do besides being on a wish and a prayer, is to call out its' name or make noises to call to it, as you may do when it is in your home. See if you can get the bird to answer to you, or at least hear your voice. If it knows your voice the best, you should be the one to call out to it. Do this every day, first in the morning, and just before sundown. Call out to it as often as you can. Follow its' cries and keep calling its' name.
Go and talk to the neighbors 2 blocks away and to ask them to perhaps keep an eye out if the bird should land in their yard. Be sure to leave your contact info. If it's a friendly bird, it may come to them.
Also place an ad in your local paper, and put up signs in your immediate neighborhood that you have a sighting of the bird, but you can't get to it. Put a picture on the flyer if you can. Check the paper daily in the "Lost and Found" section. So often people that lose animals forget to check the paper.
Also put your birds' cage outside with food and water inside and with the cage door open, in the event it may know its' surroundings and fly home. I knew someone that this actually happened to.
Say a prayer if you believe in God that he or she will come home. I will say a prayer for you...I used to sing this when I was a kid and lost something. (I think "Tony" is Saint Anthony.) It goes like this...
"Tony, Tony, look around
Something's lost and can't be found..."
Good luck in your search.
