Question about Pets:Ive had my Parakeets for several weeks now, why are they still skittish when I open the cage door?

Alot of birds take a long time to adjust to humans. Did you get these birds from a one-man-breeder, or a pet-store? If a one-man-breeder, they might've been hit or something. Alot of people 'flick' the cage with their fingers. Also, it takes a LOT of patience. Some birds, take years to become farmilliar with humans. If they had never been held before you, then you'll need to give them alot more time. Try some of these, though;

Peanut Butter on your finger, and let them 'lick' it off
Playing tapes with your voice on them over and over.. So they become farmilliar to your voice

Giving them a place to hide in their cage is also good, because they don't feel so threatened when they have somewhere they can go and retreit to..
