| Question about Pets:Will a lovebird get along with a quail if they are running around the bottom of the cage? |

I know you're talking about lovebirds, but I'll tell you a story about my dad's parakeets.
When he was little, he used to raise them to sell to pet stores.
Well one day he decided he would buy some quail, and put them in the aviary with the budgies. That didn't turn out so well....The next day he went down to check on everything and all the quail were dead, with their beaks eaten and their face practically tore apart. Caged birds in the parrot family will sometimes kill one another if you suddenly introduce a new bird into the same cage as one that is used to being by itself. If they'll do that to a bird of the same family, there's no telling what will happen to quail, that aren't quite as capable of defending itself. Some people may have put lovebirds and quail together and nothing happen except maybe them stepping on each other, but I wouldn't risk it. All birds have their own personalities, some more hostile and dominate, some more shy and timid - they're all different. Considering this, I would rather not risk it, and just keep the quail separate. Most birds don't do well mixing with other species of birds anyways. You may think they wouldn't hurt a fly, but you may be surprised what a bird with a beak like that could do to a quail. I mean....after all...doesn't it hurt when a seed eater, like a lovebird or any other parrot, gets a hold of your finger?
