| Question about Pets:Hawks |
There are many different types of hawks, and all different sizes. They are predators, which means they hunt, kill and eat animals. They do not eat seed and fruit.
Some of the smaller hawks, like a kestrel, will eat crickets, grasshoppers, and small rodents. Larger hawks, like a red-tailed hawk, will eat rabbits and animals about that size. Some hawks only hunt and eat other birds.
Most of the time, you will only see a single hawk, or two hawks together at a time, unless they are migrating.
Some birds that look like hawks, but are actually scavangers are vultures. They normally do not hunt, but eat a lot of roadkill. Turkey vultures will be seen in large flocks.
