| Question about Pets:I just got a Quaker Parrot. How much time a day should I let her/him out of the cage? |
Hiya kat! I'd give the parrot a week or so to get used to the new surroundings. Then introduce the others but make sure they respect the parrot's space, especially the cats LOL. I used to introduce my dogs by bringing them into the room and put them in a down/stay away from the parrots cage and when I felt that was going all right I'd let them be, but I was close by to keep an eye on things. If the parrot gets upset you can always back it off and go slower, but I never had a problem if I just took things slow and easy. And how much time the parrot spends out of the cage really depends on how much you can do it consistently on a regular basis I think. I'm no expert, but my parrot seems happy and healthy and he only gets a couple hours out a day. But neither is he in a room where he's by himself for the most part.
You're not over your head and I have no doubt you'll do just fine. And congrats on the new addition to the family :)
