Yes sounds like a moult. Regarding his droppings,birds droppings do sometimes change when they are going through a moult,as moulting is a stressful time for them. Allowing your bird to bathe is important during a moult,or maybe a TEPID water spray. Alway's bath your bird in the mornings, this will allow him to dry thoroughly before bedtime. Birds generally moult two/three times a year,but moulting can occur at other times due to fluctuations in temperature. Be sure to provide your bird with a good healthy diet...
