Question about Pets:Why dont hummingbirds land on the ground?


They have very tiny legs and feet and cannot walk around on the ground like other birds. This is the reason the chicks stay in the nest for so long..they have to be albe to fly well when they leave the nest. Other bird species leave the nest BEFORE they can fly because they can hop and walk around on the ground while they are still learning.
