| Question about Pets:I Want A Large Macaw search Tips? |
You are, without a doubt , going to provide an excellent home for your Macaw! I have never met anyone who was so ready willing and able to do all the research needed before buying a bird.
I would have to say that your current level of study is more than sufficient.
As for websites, you might try one called Winged Wisdom. You can also find the Merck Veterinary Manual on line, which comes in handy. For general rounded knowledge , try Brooklynparrots.com. It is a site devoted to Quaker Parrots and the wild flock roaming in New York, but it is a worthy site, and is worth the visit if for no other reason than to hear "The Ballad of the Brooklyn Parrots!"
If you are interested in a unique Yahoo group of bird and Parrot owners, I can direct you to a great group with a nice library and many helpful Parrot owners.. Just E-mail me.
My only recommendation would be to bring your Macaw home in the summer or fall, so as to avoid mating season when Parrots can get very "Hormonal " and aggressive. The first year is the worst, so avoiding the first spring might give your bird more time to adjust to you and your family.
Other than that ,you seem to have a good handle on things!
I congratulate you!!!
