| Question about Pets:Breeding Cockatiels? |
Something changed.
Did you change feed? They need specific nutrition for successful breeding, and if you switched, it may not be as high quality.
Did something change in the cage or the surrounding yard?
Neighbor's yards?
Is a predator disturbing them? Even outside the cage, they will be scared off the nests sometimes.
Nest box changes? Including placement and height.
Consider too, that as birds age, they aren't as able to produce healthy babies. Animals know instinctively when babies "aren't right", and will abandon them.
It could be time to retire this set of birds.
Try "wife swapping". Switching partners may "jump start" breeding success.
So might isolation. Producing tons of eggs and babies is taking a lot out of them. A break may replenish them.
Try hand raising the next set. That will tell you for sure if there is something wrong with them.
Good luck
