Question about Pets:How to get my cockatiels to lay eggs.?

Leave them alone. Make sure that they are in a quiet room with little distractions. If they have not been together in the same cage for a few months they will take time to get to know each other. Cockatiels take a mate and do not change mates right away. If your male had a previous mate not too long ago he may still be mourning loosing her if not then, they are just getting to know each other. You must have a nest box with nesting mat'l readily available to them. Fix up the box and then place a few torn up paper towels in the bottom of the cage. They will take them and place them in the box when they are ready. They need all the proper food water and health products. ie: vitamins, good food products, cuddle bone, oyster shell supplements etc. DEFROSTED frozen mixed vegetables are great as a treat and to help them get needed vitamins. They will eventually breed IF in fact you have a male and a female. If they are grays, this is very easy to tell. If they are any other type of cockatiel then it can be difficult to distinguish the difference. Grey females have stripes running horizontaly on the underneath of their tail. The males have dark gray feathers on both sides of the under tail running the length of their tail. Their orange spots on the face are darker and brighter than the females. And the male will mimmuck sounds ( like whistles) where as the female mostly just screeches. These signs are for greys only. So... Provided they are one of each, give them some privacy keep the noise level down and let nature take its course. They will take it from there. Once they lay eggs, DO NOT touch the eggs. I disagree with BONSYLAR breeding cockatiels can be alot of fun. I don't know where bonsylar lives but we don't have homeless cockatiel shelters here. Pet shops are very anxious to get good babies. And if you hand train them before you sell them they are worth even more. You can inquire with shops in your area to see what they are looking for. You won't get what they sell them for (they have to make a profit) but you can make a little extra money. And if you let the parents take care of the babies until they are around 5 weeks old you don't have all of the baby formula to buy. At 5 weeks you can take them away from the parents and begin holding and teaching them to eat seed. (start will millet seed) Hold them as much as possible so they become used to people and become tame. This brings the best price, even from the pet shops. But again, inquire at your local shops to see what age they want and how many they would be willing to buy.
Good luck
