| Question about Pets:Grill for Parrot Cage? |
A grill is optional. You don't neccessarily need to have one. I have grills only on the cages that were bought with grills. I can find them very hard to clean at times where placing news paper down on the floor is easier as you can roll it up & replace it quicker than you can pull out a grill & scrub it daily.
Some poeple refuse to use them because birds can get their feet caught in them if they aren't careful.
The grills are mainly used to keep parrots from walking in their own poo howver, not all the poo slips through!
Some good training & encouraging to keep of the cage floor & regular clean is all you need to do.
To find a grate? I guess if you google or check some local bird places or even ebay you might be able to find a grill suitable for the cage.
For the cage size. How big is the actual cage? An amazon needs a large cage & from what I recall large cages don't never have small openings, so, you may need to buy the correct size cage for you bird. They require space in their cages.
Ok I just found only a couple of the Essegi cages than & they were very big cages with tiny openings. I also noticed on the cages I found they look ratehr flimsly, not strong enough to hold a parrot in. The bars were very thin. A picture of yours would help but I would advise on eitehr requesting to send the cage back & get a refund & buy a better cage elsewhere if ya can.
As for knowing what parrots sizes are required for cage making, I had noticed they sell a mainly hutches so, it's possible they may be just doing the odd parrot cage to add to their cage & hutch collection. I would also say they're hard to find as they probably don't sell that well.
Apart from this the only other option would be to make a slightly larger opening for the door & use the cage as a temp out door avairy to take your amazon outside on occasions & get a better cage for indoors.

I would never recommend a parrot live in a cage like these. They look like parrot cages but they're not.
