| Question about Pets:Is it okay? |
The bird should be fine. It probably just perched for the night since you saw it go right to a tree. It may be quite hungry..but should be able to forage once the sun comes up. Breeding season is pretty much over...so very unlikely the bird had babies in a nest somewhere. If it was a parent, the other adult would have taken over feeding duties. You probably should cover the hole up with plastic or cardboard so you don't have more birds or other critters entering into your house this way.
