Question about Pets:Is my bird really that smart?

Quakers are very smart!!
Ours knows how to play, knows how to talk, and understands so well that we actually have to spell some words to keep him from hearing them!
They are also aware that they are smart. In fact, your Quaker is probably convinced that he is smarter than YOU!!
So don't be surprised when he tries to pull little sneakies, like taking a bite of your sandwich when he thinks you are not looking, or pretending to preen his feathers right before he preens your shirt full of holes!!
HINT: To prevent "Preened shirt syndrome", get an old shirt, and sew several 2 to 3 inch pieces of ribbon on and near your shoulder where he might sit. Eventually he will start to pick at and preen these ribbons, which will extend the life of your shirt!! If he beaks the ribbons until they fall apart, just sew on more ribbons!
:-)
