| Question about Pets:Why does my female cockatiel mate with another female? I thought it was a male as it was on top of the female. |
First, are you 100% certain they're female/female or have you bought them from the owner, breeder, pet shop telling they're female/female. Some people do get it wrong. If they have got it wrong you have a couple a breeding pairs there.
Second did ya actually see which layed the egg?
Thirdly, it isn't uncommon for 2 bonded pairs of the same sex to behave this way. If they're both female & have the time to form a strong bond & their cage is appropriate to them they can both display breeding habits. One being the female & one taking the role of the male. No this doesn't mean they're gay.
Get them DNA sexed to find out exactly what you have their.
