Birds can be manipulative. But only people who don't understand birds will allow their bird to bully them. It is easy to regain the upper hand. It seems to me the bird is associating his normal signature song with gentle handling. When he wants to be handled, he sings. On his terms, he is cosseted. It is a good idea to tap into this solicitation to prove you are gentle, but insist on handling at other times as well.
