| Question about Pets:Would this help it? |
By the time you get the pigeon, it should be weaned and used to being on its own. Never take a baby pigeon before it is weaned. Pigeons and doves are different than other domestic birds, like parrots. The parent pigeons will produce a "crop milk" that is very rich. It is the only thing that the baby pigeons should have for at least the first 10 days. That's when the parents start feeding some solid food along with the crop milk.
Waiting until the baby is weaned is best for its health, both physically and psychologically. By the time it is weaned, it will be ready to socialize and be away from its parents and siblings. Take it away too soon, and you can have a very shy, timid bird that is also lacking in proper nutrition.
They are not like parrots, who bond with their owner better when they are hand-fed as babies. Pigeons are a colonial bird, and need the social interaction with their flock. I would suggest getting more than one.
