Question about Pets:How do You hand tame a bird?

You are right to say your bird will need time to get used to his surroundings, once he has sit near his cage and let him get used to your voice, short word conversation with him, 'hello' hello(name), and so on. After a while open his cage door and gently reach to him and touch his tummy or back do this for a couple of days. Then you can start to put a tibit or some seed onto your hand and hold it there for a few minutes increasing the time each time you do it. Keeping talking gently to him throughout this proceedure.

Try to do the training at a certain time each day and keep to that time. It will become part of his routine. Once he starts to take from your hand continue this for a couple of times repeating a few times each day again keeping to the same times. The next thing is to place your finger slightly below his feet move your finger gently and touch his feet. Then when he gets used to this just hold your finger just touching his feet you will find that soon he will step on. Keep this up until he stays on longer.

Once he is used to all this leave his cage open and put something on top of his cage (if cage is flat top, or place an outside perch onto the cage) when he does come out hold you finger a few inches away and call his name. Do not worry if he flys away from you to start with he will eventually jump onto your finger.

Your time and patience will soon pay off. I hope this helps and I wish you good luck.
