| Question about Pets:My new pet diamond dove is not flying or cooing a lot she just sits there and also plucks some of her feathers |
Well first of all if it's your only bird, it's probably lonely and bored. Diamond Doves don't play with toys like parakeets and parrots do, but they are very sociable birds. It's better to keep doves in pairs. Then they would probably talk more. My female doesn't talk much anyways, but she does occasionally and very softly. As far as the feathers, are you sure she isn't just moulting? Usually when birds pluck their feathers out, it's usually because they are under stress or they have some sort of internal disease or parasite that causes them pain severe enough for them to resort to plucking. Either of these could also explain why your bird is quiet and plucking. Since your bird is fairly new it could just be young or it may not be quite used to the place yet - some birds are more timid than others...I still think the stress and loneliness is the main part though, just give her attention and if you can get her a mate, do it.
Well...I hoped that helped ^_^
