| Question about Pets:What are some symptoms of mites or any other problems that could harm or even kill my bird? |
If your bird has mites or lice, you can usually see the bugs on their feathers. If you notice little bity holes in the feathers (usually near the outside edge of the flight feathers) they have external parasites. The best way to prevent external bugs is by either powdering them with poultry powder from your local feed store, pet store, or Tractor Supply (if you have one around), or using a medicine in their water called Ivomec. This kills and prevents internal AND external parasites. Personally I think the Ivomec is much easier to do and not as messy.
Some other problems birds can get that are fatal if not treated soon is: Trichomoniasis (aka Canker), Paratyphoid, and Coccidosis. What your birds are liable to get depends on what kind of bird you have, but most birds get the same things generally. Canker and Coccidosis/Coccidia can be treated with this - http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/catalo...
Another good medicine I keep is Albon - http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/catalo...
It treats paratyphoid as well as a variety of other things and has worked really well
Both of those along with Terramycin-343 http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/catalo... (which you can find in Tractor Supply as well) will keep your birds healthy from just about every disease that you may face. Respiretory and bacteria problems are the main problems for birds, so having these three medicines around should fix them up if they happen to get sick.
You probably don't know what the symptoms for those diseases are, so I'll go ahead and give you a few websites explaining what they are.

All of the things I mentioned are at the bottom in separate links
If you ever have any questions about symptoms that your bird may have just send me a message explaining what's going on and I'll do my best to tell you what it is, come up with a solution for it, and maybe link you to some medicine for it :](messaging saves me from making extra long posts on here that would probably scare most people away from reading it).
Hope I helped!
