| Question about Pets:My Senegal parrot was stepping on his wing and moving up and down. What does this mean Why is he doing this? |
Wow, for having birds for 25+ years you don't know when a bird has figured a way to masterbate,LOL!! Seems awefull funny to me that some people just don't know what they are talking about even when they have birds, lol...
Most birds will find a toy or a perch to copulate on, Your bird just happened to find a part of it's body to manipulate to masterbate on. What a genius he is!! I've always thought and spoke about senegals being maze birds and how brillant they were, but this only confirms it more.
He will not hurt himself, but don't bring attention to what he's doing. Ignore it and he should stop soon enough. Bring attention to more of his positive things he does and that should make him do positive things more often. You could also clip his wings that would make it harder for him to manipulate his wing. Although i see no harm in what he's doing, unless he's really over doing it and being a pig about it, like some love birds (150 times a day) can be. It's nature at it's best. It's perfectly normal.
Good Luck!
