| Question about Pets:Cockatiel Breeding - I dont want them to.......help |
Birds do NOT mate for life, if that were the case, there would never be any more birds on the planet, LOL!!! Get a new education hon. If you can find the egg you removed, give it back to her, remove the male and replace him with the other hen that you have.
Contrary to popular belief, birds do not have to be kept in pairs. When you see this kind of behavior, you can disturb the cage by moving perches around sitting glasses in the corners of the cages, and replaces toys, even changes cages with the hens to stop the laying. You can also limit the amount of day light hours by two hours if you have to.
Always make sure they have a cuttle bone to replace the calcium they lose when laying eggs. Allow the hen to have the eggs for 21 days from the last egg laid, then remove them and return to normal routine.
Good Luck, and proud you are not helping to fill up the rescues.
