| Question about Pets:How can i attract blue jays to my house? |
Peanuts, sunflower seeds, grapes, suet, meal worms...Blue Jays eat a variety of things. And don't forget to provide a source of clean water for drinking and bathing.
However, please just put the food out in bird feeders or feeding stations, and watch the birds from a distance. Whenever a person "befriends" or "tames" a wild animal, they are doing that animal a great disservice. If you teach a wild animal to approach humans and to lose their fear of humans, you are placing them in danger. If the animal approaches some sick individual, someone who gets their "fun" out of abusing animals, the animal could be harmed or killed. If the animal approaches someone who is afraid of that type of animal, the person could react out of fear and harm (or even kill) the animal.
So please, respect the fact that blue jays (and other birds you see in your backyard) are wild animals. Let them remain wild...and safe.
