but they don't have a head poof.

I have owned chickens for years and never saw two birds of the same breed have a different feather type except for the Frizzled Birds. Reason being is that he frizzled characteristic doesn't always follow through on all of the chicks. So it is possable to see a Frizzled hen and non Frizzled rooster of the same breed. As for the Silkie this isn't possable unless there was a breeding mistake.
