| Question about Pets:How long does it take to hand-raise a baby lovebird? |
If you have NEVER hand fed before, this is not for a beginner and the breeder should not allow you to do this.
Please allow the breeder to spend a few days feeding at their house. This not only allows you to learn, but this gives you the experience you need.
Tell them you want to spoon feed, not syringe feed also. This will also allow you to be equiped at home when you take the baby home and does not allow you room for error. Syringe feeding will give you room to aspirate the baby and kill it!!!
Any person who is a hand feeder knows that you can aspirate a baby to quickly and kill it on the spot. With spoon feeding you can't do this. It also comes natural to the baby like a child is fed. Takes no more time then syringe feeding and the baby will wean better.
I also suggest you wean the baby on pellets and not seed. Also get the baby on table foods with veggies. This will only prolong the birds life. The first start is the best.
Please use Zupreme hand feeding formule and not kaytee exact. It's the best out on the market for growth.
Good luck!
