| Question about Pets:Where On a Bird Do Feathers Come From? |
Feathers on the ground can come from any part of a bird.
The type of feathers that sorround a birds vent are soft small down feathers not the type that people used to write with, wich are most commonly found on the ground these are found on the birds wings only, the rest of their body is covered in the little down feathers.
I think the reason you were told not to hold the feather at the root might have been because the root of the wing or writing feathers go inside the bird and have a blood supply meaning when they fall or are cut out they mostly do have some blood inside them, your parents might have been trying to protect you from catching illnesses the birds could have possibly have that could be passed on to you through this blood.
