| Question about Pets:Is it uncommon for a cockatiel to lay only one egg? |
You will fidn that with very young or very old birds they often only lay one egg.
The incubation period usually starts after the second egg has been laid, she was obviouly waiting for it but when it didn't arrive she sat on the other one.
The egg could still be alive, but i'm douptful, don't remove it, let her sit on it and play pretend mom for a bit, she will decide when to leave it ad it's best not to take any chances.]
Is she a single bird or does she have a mate, if she is single you must take on half the duties of a father- i.e putting your hand over the egg whilst mom gets a drink and streaches herwings a few times a day, if you don't have the time to do this then it's best for the egg and your bird to remove the egg, shake, boil, and cool it them put it back under her.
There wont be a embryo in there yet so it wont kill anything just stop it from forming.
Good Luck!
