| Question about Pets:Girl or boy? |
Is it a normal grey cockatiel? If it is the normal colouring, males are grey with yellow heads. Females have duller yellow-grey heads and barring under their tails. http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/photos/bir...
There are some grey mutations, such as the whiteface. Male whiteface cockatiels look like this:

Females will have more grey on their face and such. However, this can be decieving, because a whiteface cross something else can have grey on its face yet be a male.
If it is a pied mutation (random markings on the body - http://www.forthebirdsdvm.com/floydbig.j... it is impossible to sex visually. It needs to be DNA tested to find out.
There are other mutations too that are grey, such as the platinum.
Other ways of telling is obviously, if it lays an egg, it is a female. If it sings, it is -probably- a male (although there are rare cases of females singing). Males are more likely to talk and mimic than females, although females can do this too.
DNA tests will tell you for sure.
Also, younger birds all show signs of being female, so you need to wait until they are full grown before judging by appearance.
