"Give Blood" gave you the correct recipe. Please DO NOT add red food coloring or buy the premade stuff from the pet store..the food coloring is thought to build up in kidneys and other internal organs and may harm the birds...best to be safe and just use sugar and water. The red coloration of the feeder itself is enough to attract the birds..no added color is required.
