| Question about Pets:How do you make a parakeet comfortable with a nest? |
I had a pair of parakeets yrs. ago and I purchased a wooden breeding box . You have too snip the cage to make a hole big enough so they can fit through by bending the steel open and attach to the back of your cage and also buy from the pet store nesting material (looks like pieces of short string) and hang it by the opening to the breeding box inside the cage and they can make its own nest out of it. I hope this helps . Then after you are done with the breeding box bend the steel back together at the back of your cage or just purchase a new cage and use that one for breeding only.It worked for me and I hope it works for you too . You might have to buy a separate cage after the babies are older to keep them separate from the parents because sometimes the "father" bird will fight with the young birds,that happened to me.
