Oh, I'd be happy to help you! Anything for a friend in need! well, I have 3 handsome parakeets at home!
First of all, you cannot tell the sex when they are very young. It is simply not done unless you go to the vet for a DNA testing. You'll just have to wait until they get older.
The colored part of the nose is called a cere. If it turns a blueish color, it is one fine handsome boy/ male. If it turns a brown/ or crusty, cinnamon toast brown, it is one fine and lovely girl.
It is so hard to choose a female in pet stores, the odds are males 57%. So, good luck!
