| Question about Pets:Do you think that having a bird is worth the mess? If so, should I get a cockatiel or an Indian ring-neck? |
Birds can make a bit of a mess, but so can any other pet.
As to the noise, nobody seems ready to give away their dog if he barks from time to time.
here are some tips.
1. Cockateils are great birds , and are not overly noisy except at sunrise. They sing to greet the sun! To avoid this until you get up ,simply cover their cage with a sheet or blanket to block out the sun. After you get up you can take off the cover.
2.Yes birds can make some mess on the floor. You can help to cut this down by getting a large cardboard box ( the bigger the better), flattening it out, and laying it under the cage. This will catch a large percentage of the seeds, feathers and other debris which falls from the cage.
3. Get a "Cage Skirt". This elastic and cloth hoop will go around the lower part of the cage and help to keep debris inside the cage.
4. Research, research, research ! Know your bird before you bring it home! Be aware of how to train it, so that the noise can be reduced! Be aware of its diet and cage requirements. Be aware of health issues. You biggest advantage is knowledge-the more knowledge you have , the better you can cope with and enjoy your bird!
