| Question about Pets:Broken bird claw? |
Cockatiel claws are very flexible, but it is still possible for them to break it if they get it caught in a toy or anything with a small hole that can catch it. At this point there is little you or the vet can do. If it is not bleeding, then I would just keep an eye on it and it should heal on its own. This is NOT like a dog or cat breaking a leg. A claw can not be set like a broken leg can. Make sure you have some septic powder on hand, which any pet store should have. This way, if it bleeds you can put this powder on the part that is bleeding and hold it for a few seconds, and the bleeding should stop. Bleeding is the biggest concern. If there is a visible wound, take it to the vet and get an antibiotic to give your bird to fight possible infection. If there is no visible wound or bleeding, just let it be. It will heal on its own. I am glad to help further, if you have more problems. IM me if it gets worse, even if it shows me offline. I will get the message as soon as I get back, and will get to you ASAP.
